Stripes glorious stripes!

STRIPE ME BLACK & WHITE I DONT MIND

Stripes are back and they dangeriously entering the fashion scene this season.Stripes can be tricky to wear because there is no way that you can wear stripes with a TOO busy top with flowers and daisies and dots. It's just a bit weird and you're gonna look like  a 3 year olds painting dashed with colours that you never thought existed. It's frikkin weird and scary! Stripes are great with a plain top something minimal like a white tee matched with a black blazer and gold jewellery.

Now I said stripes go well with a plain top preferably a white tee but with a skirt like this you can definitely add some colour to your outfit and play with different textures.

When you decide to buy anything striped don't scare the daylights out of yourself by matching it with another striped item. The only person who could do that is fashion designer Versace and ofcourse you're not.Stripes should not intimidate you because they add an edge to your look and ofcourse you're gonna be the talk of the town (that's if you dont commit a fashion crime by matching stripes with some hideous shoe or top).

Stripes don't only come in black and white like black and red.

Look at the sexy and talented, Sinazo Yolwa who's rocking vertical and horizontal red and black strikes. This is a "Yes-Yes" type of outfit. You can find these leggings on her clothing line website Purfect8.

Headwraps and turbans

TURBANS AND HEADWRAPS

It's heritage day, the celebration of  South africa's diverse cultures and tribes. Many will be rocking their traditional attires with colours ranging from res, green, yellow, black and anything that represents our rainbow nation.

Ofcourse there are those like me who don't own anything related to my culture, the Xhosa's.Instead of looking plain on this day or any other day,Im gonna try look tribal or ethnic by wrapping a headscarf on my head creating a turban-like look.Turbans and headscarfs are for the bold (and ofcourse for those who don't feel like combining their hair) and trendy because it is not easy to pull off that edgey, ethnic look.

Turbans and headscarfs can be bought at almost any shop. Headscarfs are obviously normal scarfs or you can go to shop that sells material and choose the type of material you'd like to use for your headwrap.

Gold chains and high waisted jeans

Model and clothing: Hombakazi Vintage Cabin

This summer is all about gold and pastel colours such as light peach, beige, light yellows and mild colours.Regardless of your skin tone gold brings out your outfit and enhances your features. This season is all about chunky gold chains matched with a simple plain coloured top together with highwaisted jeans and ofcourse a dash of bold lipstick. The one thing you should never be seen around wearing is a flowered two piece that looks like it was taken right from a botanical garden. Wear colours that enhance your features and bring out your figure regardless of your size. Gold chains can be purchased anywhere in Oxford Street between R45-R70

Leather pleather whatever!

The hottest trend this season is leather. It really doesnt matter if it's fake or real just as long as it looks like leather. This trend comes in pleated skirts,A-line skirts, highwaisted shorts and pants. The colours vary from the most common colour being black and tan; there is definitely no boundaries to the colour you should choose, the brighter the colour the more quirky and fashionable it will be.The only down-side of this trend is that it can get really hot and sweaty inside those pants or skirts but who cares if you're going to look gorgeous?!

This look is an absolute YES-YES,you can't go wrong with leather unless you're wearing it with a top made out of dirty baby nappies then that's another issue for another day. Leather is one of those items you should never throw away because it adds personality to an outfit and simply because it's as classic as the ever so popular, the LBD ( Little Black Dress).
